This has been through the ringer a few times in the past, amazing that it was introduced by a Georgia Representative – I never knew that Linder was a progressive republican.  I am curious though what you guys think about this given the current economic climate in the country.  Could a major change to our tax code, including one that gets a bump in income from typically categories of “citizens”, be a turning point, or a tool in fighting against the recession?

I certainly like Fair Tax better than Flat Tax since the latter typically penalizes the taxee with less income.  At least with Fair Tax we would be taxed on what we consume.

Thoughts?
